Hello Riders,
The mountain is plastered with tracks, as if it was a powder morning in the middle of winter. I heard from a couple of people that hiked up and turned downhill in Utah powder the morning. The word was pretty positive, but everyone hit plenty of rocks. There is a base, but the snow we received the other day was super light and did not help to bury rocks and bushes as much as we would have hoped.
However, there is apparently enough snow to allow some ski areas to open for the coming weekend. Squaw Valley has announced that they will be running Red Dog and Squaw Creek beginning Friday. Northstar is opening as well. Snowmaking crews have been working as the temperatures drop adding to the base.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for another storm or two before Thanksgiving rolls around.
