Mobile Site Tips

There’s not much of a question about it, not many people are huge fans of the current rendition of the Ikon Pass app. The current Palisades Tahoe website, as of January 2026, is also almost unusable, especially on mobile devices. So we took matters into our own hands. With the help of a friend and some AI magic, we have put together a much better solution to make finding information a better experience while on the mountain.

As of 1/8/26 we completely changed the architecture behind our mobile offerings. Our main site here is hosted on WordPress, and it just is not a great solution for frequently changing information like lift and trail statuses. It was especially unreliable for providing notifications. So the mobile site was moved to a completely different site, using a server with more modern architecture.

The following three pages are still hosted via WordPress and are deprecated. These pages are set for termination by the end of January. We suggest deleting those links and adding the new mobile site.

  1. We started with a simple Alpine Meadows lift operations status page. It simply polls data from the Palisades Tahoe site, and organizes it into an easy to read format. It includes status and wait times if available.
  2. We then added a similar Alpine Meadows trail status page. By clicking the headers at the top of each column, you can sort alphabetically, by status, by difficulty or grooming. Adding a lift column for sorting made the table too wide and complicated.
  3. The old UA Mobile page, which looks a lot like the new one, but does not work nearly as well.

Adding Our Mobile Page To Your Device

Navigate to the UA Mobile site at https://unofficialalpinelifts.com. Then look for the “Sharing” tool and click it. On iOS, the sharing button is a box with and arrow pointing up. On Android, it is three dots at the upper right.

On the line with the black and white tool options, scroll to the right and select “More”. Then scroll down to “Add To Home Screen”. This will create an icon with the Unofficial Alpine Meadows logo. You can edit the name as you like.

You’re welcome to just set a bookmark and navigate to the site that way. However, in order to receive notifications for lifts and trail status changes, you must use the process above to create an “app” or PWA on your device. Notifications are only active from 8-5 during ski season. You can set specific lifts or trails for notifications. It’s worked very well in testing over the last 10 days.

Thanks again to our unnamed and underpaid intern and his AI friends that put in the work to provide this service for you. Also thanks to those that have bought us a coffee and your support for Unofficial Alpine Meadows.
