Hope On The Horizon?

Yep, it’s been another indian summer week in Tahoe. The storm that looked impressive a day ago is beginning to dissolve before our eyes as it hits a high pressure ridge parked over the West. Precipitation amounts by Friday night might amount to less than an inch of new snow above 7500 feet, which is not what we want to hear at this time of year.

Even Boreal is throwing in the towel and suspending operations after tonight’s session. Yep, their web cam is showing a lot of brown patches. too. Fortunately, Woodward at Tahoe is offering a lot of fun for people that like to bounce and skate.

There’s a couple of glimmers of hope on the horizon. Although there will be a warm up through early next week, forecasters are beginning to see some change in the long term. BA at tahoeweatherdiscussion.com suggests that there may be a system as early as next Wednesday. It will likely be the system that just knocks down the ridge. Paul at www.tahoeweatherblog.com is calling more specifically for a significant storm by next Friday. He’s liking the European models, based on their accuracy at forecasts over the last year. Here’s what they show for Friday:

So plan a weekend with some fall chores, bike rides and rock climbing. Definitely wash your car. If you put your snow tires on prematurely last week, take them back off. Go burn some skis, flush some ice cubes and drink some Ullr Cinnamon Schnapps to help appease the snow gods.

  1. Bummer. Still warm and rainy in Oregon, too. Just washed my truck. I might take the camper shell off too. Maybe leave some clothing in the back. I might throw away my wax and p-tex…… Picked up some Ullr a few days ago, in preparation for a ski burning.

  2. Kevbot send us some ULLR. Having trouble finding it down here. car is washed, bbq is out. November turns are on the horizon!
