Hello friends,
Summer is slipping away. We already see some bush, and even a few tree leaves, turning color. It seems early for leaf colors to be turning, I think our seasons are changing. Smoke has filled the air off and on over the past week or two making outdoor activities unpleasant at times. However, it seems to be abating, at least in the afternoon hours.
We have been riding our mountain bikes sporadically on the normal trails near Alpine Meadows. Riding trails are in nice shape, especially after the rain showers that fell recently (they have dried up at this point, but still appear to be less dusty than they have been in past years). Lake Tahoe is warm enough for a good dunking warmer days. If we are free of smoke, hiking has been enjoyable. Our local golf courses are in excellent condition. Music at Squaw Valley on Tuesdays continues to be fun, especially with the summer crowds thinning out.
It is time to begin thinking of winter. Late summer sales will be in full swing this coming Labor Day weekend.
Of course, there will be a sale in Alpine Meadows. If you are looking for some goodies, head up to Tom Lane’s driveway on Juniper Mt. Rd. in Alpine on Saturday or Sunday morning. He will have his usual array of sports equipment and clothing lining the streets at great prices.
Enjoy your day,
Andy Wertheim
