Live From The Sun Deck

  • by

It’s been another amazing spring day at Alpine Meadows. I’m sitting on the Sun Deck where Joy and Madness is about to take the stage. It’s classic Alpine Meadows, except you used to know just about everyone around you. Time moves on. The band is fun and the Palisades Paloma is cold.

It was quite a bit warmer today and classic “follow the sun” rules were in order. I went to start my day on Sun Spot and it was not groomed. Neither was Solar Flare. Instead there was a new run in between the two. I dubbed it Fakespot, not being able to come up with an appropriate astronomical term. It was not fake fun, it was real fun for about 3 laps.

We headed to Sherwood and immediately bailed. With only the main run groomed, it looked like a certain Visa commercial. Instead we went back to Summit and caught an amazing High Traverse lap before it closed for the day. A great High T corn run is my favorite… better than powder. Thanks to patrol for keeping it in good shape.

We did a few afternoon laps on Lakeview then Scott. Lakeview is still epic. Here I am now enjoying some great music as there was some stickiness in the snow.

We have one more spring day ahead before we flirt with a return to winter. The winds will kick in Monday and that may affect some lift operations. Monday night into Tuesday the snow comes in. I’m sticking with a forecast of 4-6 inches of new snow. I love this statement from Reno NOAA:

Snow/Rain: After the winter we have had it`s actually a bit painful to talk about snow again, but here we are.

Temperatures remain cold Wednesday before rebounding later in the week. We will likely endure a few days of stickies before we get back to corny goodness.

That’s all for today as it’s time for music. This post done 100 percent via cell phone 😃
