Today was a great day for skiers and snow boarders. The surface conditions were superb.
Yes, there were too many people for the number of lifts and trails available making lines unacceptable at times. It is true that the winds were blowing more strongly than I would have hoped causing a number of lifts to be on-hold and off schedule. Three major lifts were not running today. Summit, Scott, and Lakeview took the day off.

The morning hours offered gray skies with an occasional snow flake falling to the ground. This created flat light keeping me away from areas I know were filled with moguls. Areas that were more smooth, created with grooming machines or driving winds, felt good underfoot.

In the afternoon, the clouds separated and then pretty much disappeared for a few hours. The snow surface was excellent winter pack all over the mountain where skiing was available. I cannot remember as many people skiing South Face at one time. It was delicious. We skied South Face in the sun in the afternoon and loved it.

Power Line did not disappoint nor Sherwood Face. On the front side Fall Line, Sympathy, Roll and Knolls, Gunners Knob, and especially God’s Knob were just a joy to ski. The surface was soft skier pack something that we do not always have in Tahoe. I really cannot say I skied anything I would consider to have been in poor condition today.
We headed out just after 9am this morning and did not stop until after 3pm. I would have stayed to the end, but my friends felt the need to head back to Truckee before traffic backed up.
