Hello Friends,
We hiked up to Five Lakes yesterday afternoon in an attempt to get a quick walk in before the rain began. The great news is that the sky is gray and the street and ground is wet this morning. Cool temperatures, overcast skies, and a little water should help fire crews get and handle on the Mosquito Fire. The moisture will also cut down dust on our local trails.
I took the attached photo of the construction progress at the turning point of the gondola on Troy Caldwell’s property. A huge still cover is being constructed over the gondola at this point to protect it from avalanches that may occur from the cliffs above. I also wandered up to the lodge and took a couple of photos of the construction that is ongoing at the Alpine base.
Yesterday they were pulling the last of the communication lines that hang from the gondola towers. According to the person who was physically pulling the internet cable across the parking area that was sunken in the snowmaking pond waiting to be lifted onto the tower. Stringing the cable is scheduled for later this week or early next week.
Enjoy your day,
Andy

Puzzled by the new construction (currently Tyvek covered) extending out towards Roundhouse from the Lodge. We heard that there weren’t any changes to the lethal staircase…is there cover over the approach to the top of it?
Last year they barely finished that little vestibule. It looks like they are going to add proper siding, they added windows and it looks like they added sliding doors like the rest of the lodge. That should be interesting…stop and go traffic on a busy day. I already have one pair of goggles scratched by an errant ski pole!
