Scott Gaffney: My New Warren Miller?

It’s been almost 50 years since I saw my first Warren Miller ski movie. Right about this time each season, a new Warren Miller ski movie has been released, and it has always stoked that burning desire to go skiing. It’s been a decade or so since I made the effort to see a Warren Miller film, as things are just not the same without Warren.

This is where Scott Gaffney comes into play. Gaffney is at the core of Matchstick Productions, and many of their films have been my new season starters. Today, Gaffney released his own personal edit from the 20-21 season, filmed mostly at Olympic Valley. The fire has been lit Scott. Thank you.

P.S. Snowmaking has started at both Alpine Meadows and Olympic Valley

  1. The dude’s always been a crack up and he still skies better than I do. Of course, I’m 68, but I will be doing that spread tip grab so I can be like Scott!

  2. Well yah Scoot his brother Doctor Robb and the late great Shane McKonkey all legends and skied at that ‘other mountain” as did and still do, many other ledgends of the GNAR. But hey Alpine is just so so so much better someone should write a book about Alpine or at least a blog and all the ski legends it has produced too. Hah!

    1. Hmmm seems like over the years we have given a lot of coverage to Olympians David Wise and Brita Sigourney. Both grew up on the Alpine Meadows freestyle team. Wayne Wong…..pretty big deal too but he was before my time.
