Fall Sights

  • by

Hello Friends,

The weather in Tahoe has been spectacular the last few days with clear skies and moderate to cool temperatures. Foliage is turning color from green to golden yellows and reds with each day. Fall is definitely in the air. The weather is perfect for hiking or mountain biking.

I walked the Sagehen Trail north of Truckee the other day. This is an easy 5 mile round trip walk with very little elevation gain or loss. The trail follows Sagehen Creek from Hwy. 89 to Stampede Reservoir. Willows and other bushes are turning gold along with Aspen Trees. The trail eventually cross Sagehen Creek. Kokanee Salmon are spawning in the creek. This time of year they fight their way up stream from the lake to find gravel areas in the stream to lay eggs after which they die. This is always an interesting place to observe the salmon swimming upstream. It seemed a little early this year to see salmon swimming upstream.

There were very few people the day I was hiking this trail which made it even better. Attached are a couple of photos from different walks I have taken recently.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
