Eighty mile an hour gusts from the east at the ridge top this morning put Summit on windhold until noon. Alpine Bowl Chair was not on the schedule today as well.
Temperatures were on the cool side, which normally means going to Scott, Lakeview, or Sherwood first thing in the morning is not the best decision. We stuck to Roundhouse for most of the morning.
Perfect groomed runs were once again served up for the early morning crowd. The good news was, and remains for the time being, that north facing slopes are still covered with winter snow. Sympathy, Rolls and Knolls (and a number of variations of this modest run), D7, North Peril, and High or Medium Yellow (the area under High Yellow Face and Our Father), were wonderful today. We played in the skier packed winter moguls most of the morning.
Once Summit opened we shot over to High Yellow which was one of he better runs of the day. We did slide down the left side of Ridge Run on our and only trip up Scott Chair. It was okay, but still firm when we made our visit. I would venture to say that the skiing we did today rated a B+. It was not terribly crowded although the line at Summit grew quickly after it opened.
Tomorrow should be as good in the morning as it was today. It will be warmer tomorrow which means Scott, Lakeview, and Sherwood should soften and offer some good spring snow later in the morning. Hopefully the winds will drop overnight calm down tomorrow.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
When I stop to talk on the phone, I prefer to keep both of my skis vertical. That way, people don’t think I crashed and need help.
