If you are a reader of Unofficial Alpine, it probably means that you feel like you’re a part of the Alpine Meadows community of skiers and riders. Hopefully, you’re willing to pitch in and help out one of our patrollers. Will Straub was recently diagnosed with cancer. It will end his season early.
He will be undergoing surgery as soon as possible to remove a tumor, and then face a series of testing and diagnostics to see what’s next. There’s not a doubt in my mind that every one of you knows someone that is dealing with cancer, so we don’t have to explain how big of an ordeal this can be. Several people reached out to me last night and asked me to share this GoFundMe with the Unofficial Alpine community.
Our Alpine Meadows ski patrollers, both the professionals and the nationals, are out there every day making things safer for all of us. If you have ever been hauled out on a sled (thank you Michael H!), watched patrollers throwing bombs, or just skied past a patroller checking speeds at Sandy’s Corner – you know how important their work is to all of us. This is your chance to give back. Please donate to Will’s GoFundMe today. Let’s exceed all expectations on that goal!
