It was one of those mornings I might have just skipped in another season. The light was flat, most of the time, with occasional outbreaks of sun…very occasional. The temperatures also rose throughout the morning. Although it looked like there was new snow falling, it stuck right to your goggles, and every non-waterproof piece of clothing you were wearing.
Fortunately the grooming was excellent just about every where, allowing you to point things downhill and hope for the best. Most slopes off of Summit and Roundhouse were soft. We did one test run off of Scott. That scraping sound is still ringing in my ears, two hours later.
Things may have improved later in the day, or maybe they did not. After a couple of hours, it felt like it was time to move on to other things today.
The forecast still calls for 4-8 inches of snow overnight and another of couple of inches during the day tomorrow. Snow levels drop overnight, so that last few inches should be pleasant. Tomorrow is another day, and it won’t be tough to beat today.
