OMG That Was A Great Day

  • by

I spent a lot of time getting into a zen mode this morning, preparing for what looked like it might be a short day with long lift lines. It turned out to be my best day of the season. It took 27 runs, ending at 4:07, to make sure it was the best.

My seasonal total for Kangaroo runs jumped by 500% today

Sure that first hour was a little bit tougher to love, with long lines on both Roundhouse and Hotter Wheels. We quickly moved on to the Roo, playing in the powder on Kangaroo Face and the newly dubbed “Glade That Is Seldom Skied”. Sometime while we were there Sherwood opened, but with the SVAM app reporting lines of 10-20 minutes, we didn’t bother. Instead we kept an eye on Summit, which opened around noon.

That first run down Tower 19 was magical, but we headed straight to Scott to catch that opening. It turned out that the wait for Scott was less than your typical Summit line. We picked up first tracks in Gentian Gully, followed by an excellent run in the Promised Land. As the line grew at Scott, we headed over to Sherwood, where we still found powder aplenty.

The temperatures stayed cold, and the sun behind clouds much of the day. Sherwood and Lakeview did get cooked a bit in the direct sun. Heading back to Summit for our last runs, we found nice soft wind buffed snow both on and off piste. While tomorrow will not be a powder day, it will be very good skiing.

That “blackout day effect” was totally working today, combined with a fear of wind holds. Neither the White Wolf or Deer Park lots were used today. Overall, the numbers seemed roughly half of last Saturday.

There’s one more storm in this cycle for Sunday night into Monday. It still shows the potential for 4-8 inches of snow…and some high winds again.
