Why Yes, It Was Very Good Today

How good was it? So good that I never stopped to take a picture today.

The day started off cold and blustery, and that lead to great conditions all over. The groomed runs were soft and carvable down low, and chalky on the upper mountain. Off piste, conditions remained mostly soft and smooth, especially in areas that saw a bit more traffic yesterday. My favorite turns of the morning were in Lower High Yellow, via the traverse from Terry’s. It wasn’t perfectly smooth, but those giant ice moguls are just a memory for now.

As the day evolved, the temperatures did get warmer, especially at the base area. On piste areas in the sun started to get a bit clumpy in south facing areas, seen best on Ridge, Bobby’s and Upper Weasel 1. Off piste areas in the sun started to get a bit manky by 2pm. Still I managed 25 laps today before I thought about making some sort of dinner plan.

The snow conditions are going to be evolving over the next few days. We’re looking at some warm midday temperatures and cold nights. This is great for us corn lovers. It just takes a few days to get there. We have to get past the mank cycle first. Ski early, wax well and look for north facing terrain for softer snow.

Lakeview Is On The Schedule Tomorrow

As we have been saying, mountain ops has been prepping the Lakeview lift and terrain all week. Tomorrow is opening day for the Lakeview lift. That’s not surprising, as Friday seems to be the most frequent day for these terrain openings. It’s going to be great to have a new area to play and to spread people out. I also love me some high speed Twilight Zone laps! I won’t be expecting any greatness for the Outer Outer zone. It probably got cooked today…so hopefully the corn will be ready for harvest soon.

Breakfast Is On The Schedule For The Weekend

Word on the street is that breakfast service will be available in the Meadows Cafe this weekend. That’s great news, as it should reduce the possibility of the Treats staff having a nervous breakdown. There’s no details available just yet, but my money is on breakfast burritos. Captain Dan? Any ideas on menus or hours yet? You know what would be cool…if you had a little ice cream truck that could roam the parking lot with breakfast burritos and coffee. See Capt. Dan’s comment below 🙂

Hey, I did take a picture while hot lapping Roundhouse this afternoon!

I love this place!

  1. No to take anything away from Dan but the window down at Subway is pretty awesome. Mogrog breakfast sandies are yums. I mean, treats is treats and I love them too. So glad Alpine still has variety and not just the canned resort shite.
