Steeper the Better

  • by

From green grass a few days ago to deep pow, tall berms along the roadways and snow in front of garage doors…

Snow fell lightly much of the morning as we hunted for the shortest lift lines. Summit Chair was too much for me so we bounced around between Roundhouse, TLC, and Scott Chairs seeking as untracked powder as we could find. Standard Run presented quiet lightly tracked snow that was enjoyable. Below Shuttle Cornice, between avalanche debris, I did find deep fluffy powder. Gentian Gully was deep as usual, but somewhat cutup by the time we reached it.

There was a crowd today which was understandable, but it did lengthen lines and make it more difficult to find completely virgin snow. We were lucky to have turns under three sisters early which were sweet and deep. Regardless of the crowd, just looking around at thick snow hanging on tree branches, deep berms, and skier/boarder tracks all over the mountain brought joy to my heart. Life is good in the mountains.

Thank you to Randy, who took the attached photo of me in Gentian Gully and Bob I who shot the picture of me on Standard Run early in the morning.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
