After a series of weak impulses from cutoff lows, we finally saw a stronger GOA storm overnight. Looking at my driveway, there’s about 8 inches of new snow in Truckee and the remote sensors at Alpine are showing 11 inches at the base. There is absolutely no doubt that local backcountry hotspots will again see another wave of activity.

STAY OUT OF THE BACKCOUNTRY
if you get hurt, or buried valuable emergency resources will be taken away from more important work getting ready for what’s coming with Covid-19

I agree. Also don’t park on the roadways if you do choose to take the risk of entering the Backcountry. The CHP placed a roadblock in Ward Canyon last weekend and will continue to ticket and/or tow any vehicles parked on the road. It’s illegal to do so Nov 1 thru May 1 in Placer County. Alpine Meadows Resort including Sherwood Area is closed to Backcountry access.
