Another Great Morning

  • by

Hello Skiers and Riders,

The morning brought gray skies, cool overnight temperatures, and more good skiing. We actually received a couple more inches of snow overnight making everything look fresh and clean this morning.

It was an excellent morning of skiing. We enjoyed powder turns after walking up to the Upper Saddle and dropping down the Sun Bowl. We followed up with a few turns in my hidden stash off the return road from Sherwood, a couple of turns in the trees that fill North Peril, and a couple runs through Pygmy Forest, helped make up a portion of the morning.

Gentian did not disappoint, nor did the slopes of Palisades and High Yellow. Of course, we sunk into Field of Dreams from the top of Lakeview before noon. It was difficult not to yell out strange loud noises as we turned through snow laden trees in knee deep untracked snow. It was sweet, quiet, and put smiles on my friends faces. After chewing up plenty of soft snow, we turned to excellent winter pack for the rest of the morning and early afternoon.

It warmed up this afternoon. The sky remained gray, but the air has increased in temperature (spring time in Tahoe). This is changing the surface conditions. Certain areas were firming up or becoming stiff and heavy. I think the north facing slopes will remain in good condition tomorrow, but some of the south facing slopes maybe in transition mode.

Enjoy your day,

Andy Wertheim
