Snap Go the Poles

  • by

It is 52 degrees at 4 pm today. The sky is blue. This morning, I was only on the hill for a short time, there was a west wind at the top of Summit Chair keeping the snow cool for a short time. Sunspot, well groomed, was a little more firm than the days before, but Alpine Bowl and Wolverine were quite nice. We headed over to Sherwood where it softened early and made a few turns on nice corn, mostly on the narrowly groomed run. A couple of turns on Outer Limits and Bobby’s Run ended my short morning. The snow was soft at this areas by 10:30. There were some high clouds overhead in the early morning, but they disappeared quickly. Conditions must have turned to spring on most areas today as the baking sun and warm temperatures would not allowed for much less.
Attached is a photo of a sign at the mid-station of Treeline that is filled with broken poles. People have their poles in hand and hanging off the chair. They catch on the ramp and snap as you can see by the number of partial poles hanging from the sign.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
