Knee Deep!

Hello Skiers and Riders,

I have not seen so many smiling people on and off the ski hill in a very long time. It is amazing what a few inches of new snow and winter conditions will do to the attitude of locals who have been in rather low moods lately. It snowed all morning, light, but consistent. Visibility was better today than yesterday, but it was still gray. The snow today was also better. It was not as wind affected.

We had a great morning picking our way between tight trees in Gentian, Sherwood Cliffs, between runs off Scott Chair, in Outer-Outer Limits, and below the road leading back from Sherwood. I think the deepest and best untracked snow of the day was between the road leading back from Sherwood and the base of Scott Meadow (from which we skated back to Rays Rut and Sherwood). The snow in this area was knee deep. We had an untracked run in Gentian Gully early in the morning that also blew snow over my knees. There was plenty of skier chop off Shuttle Cornice, in the Sherwood Cliffs, under the Alpine Bowl Chair (Pygmy Forest), and throughout the Palisades. A few people even described today as epic (especially given the past couple of months of drought).

We are hoping the temperatures remain cool so the snow stays in winter condition for awhile.

Enjoy your day,

Andy

  1. Quote:”I think the deepest and best untracked snow of the day was between the road leading back from Sherwood and the base of Scott Meadow (from which we skated back to Rays Rut and Sherwood).
