Seeking the Dream

It was 51 degrees at the base this afternoon. The only good thing about the temperature today was that it finally has softened some of the hard surfaces that have been off limits. High Traverse turned corn by 10:30 this morning. The same was true under towers 19 and 20 at the top of Summit Chair.

Under Idiots Delight, in Wolverine Bowl, corn snow could be found, along with relatively small moguls. I traversed across Wolverine Bowl to access Lower Beaver Bowl. The traverse is pretty bumpy, but Lower Beaver was delightful and the exit from Beaver to the top of Kangaroo increased my pleasure meter.

Looking up to the top of Beaver made me want to hike over, but time was against me today. Maybe tomorrow morning I’ll have more time. There was good snow at Sherwood in the morning, but it is melting. Groomed runs at Scott and Lakeview were also a delight.

Photos attached of Beaver Bowl and a small patch of dirt that requires removal of skis to ski CB Chute, Sun Bowl, S.P. Bowl and Big Bend.

Enjoy your day,

Andy

  1. It really was a great day, and it was nice to have so many more options available. Although I am determined to squeeze every last turn out of High Traverse and Sherwood, I was drawn back to the front side to ski lines that have been unskiable for a month.
