Demo Day

Plenty of light filled the slopes this morning as the sun was out in full force. Temperatures were generally below freezing on the mountain. Slopes were pretty firm during the morning hours. First runs in Alpine Bowl and Wolverine Bowl on well groomed trails were pleasant enough as it was easy to set an edge. Later in the day skiers seem to have worn off the corduroy surface leaving it smooth and slick. Off piste had not softened by noon. I ventured on to God’s Knob and under the Sherwood Chair where I was met with frozen moguls and piles of rubble that created a rather hard bumpy ride. To be sure, I have skied worse conditions. We gave the morning groomed runs a 6 or 7. Sherwood a 4 on the groomed and a 2 or 3 off piste.
We often say that a day on the slopes is better than any day in the office. Today was one of those days. Better to be on the slopes in the sun enjoying the views than sitting staring at a computer screen.
Although there were plenty of people at the ski area, based on the number of cars in the parking lot, there were really no lift lines.
Today was also demo day for backcountry ski equipment. A number of reps were set up in front of the lodge allowing us to try different skis, poles etc.. It was certainly an opportunity to try equipment you might have been thinking of purchasing.

We are hoping for some new snow at the end of the week.

Enjoy your day

  1. Yes, being on the mountain is certainly better than trying to recover from this head cold. Third day of missing skiing and the grouchies are setting in…

  2. Mark you can deny the Elephant in the sky that is Climate Engineering, but you’re current symptoms can’t ignore its fallout you exposed yourself to skiing last thursday on that particularly heavy jet sprayed aerosol assault overhead. That said, hope you feel better soon.
