Snowy Morning

  • by

Hello Skiers,

After two days of howling winds and minimal lift operation, our weather calmed down overnight. This morning brought snow showers and flat visibility, especially on the upper mountain. The air was rather warm and the flakes falling were on the wet side, but they looked beautiful as they piled up on the surface. I found the lower angle slopes to be the best as the firmness underneath the new layer was less evident.

First run down was from Roundhouse on what we call Chicken Leg, and many other names. I enjoyed some very nice powder turns on this trail. Scott proved to be a little variable with some firm spots on the top, but very nice lower down and in the trees. Scott Meadow was perfect as always in these conditions. We made a few turns on Outer Limits and then headed for Sherwood. Powerline offered up some nice powder with a smooth surface below.

In the flat light Expert Shortcut took some energy, as skiing the good size moguls that remain was a bit of a
challenge. There was a full house on the hill today, but lines were not terribly long. Treeline Cirque was very busy with skiers and boarders heading to Sherwood.

Snow has stopped falling at this point, late in the day. Tomorrow temperatures should drop somewhat and we may see a cloudy sky with some sunshine. Late this afternoon we took a short walk on the plowed bike trail along the Truckee River.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
