Fourteen year old Bennett Drummond will return to Vail, Colorado in February for the Winter Mountain Games. Drummond, a Truckee native and member of the Alpine Meadows Junior Freeheel team, will be the youngest invited competitor in the Telemark Big Air Competition. In the 2012 games, Drummond was awarded the “Random Acts Of Radness” award, while also earning the attention of event organizers and the entire telemark community.

Bennett has been skiing since the age of 19 months and made the switch to telemark at age 10. Alpine Meadows is the home to the premier junior telemark program in the country, growing from 8 members to more than 30 members over the last 4 years. Bennett has been a strong competitor on the team, finishing first in the Tahoe Local Slopestyle Comp in 2012 and the Tough Guy Productions Tele Series at Alpine Meadows and Grand Targhee in 2011.

Bennett received some great press from OutsideOnline.com last season, where he was ranked at the top of their list of “emerging badasses” to watch. He gets similar honors at the Mountain Games site, where he made the list of “Telemark Big Air Athletes To Watch.”

We wish good luck to Bennett at the Mountain Games and will keep you posted on his progress. The 2013 Mountain Games, sponsored by Eddie Bauer will be held at Vail from February 7-10. More information about the games can be found at MountainGames.com.
