Seven Inches Of New Snow…Or More

  • by

Hello Skiers and Riders,

More snow fell last night than I realized when I first peered out my window.  The storm blew in cold and windy leaving a nice fresh layer of snow on the mountain.  There was just enough to make for powder skiing on the early evening groomed runs and low angle slopes.

South facing slopes melted just enough yesterday, and froze solid enough last night, to make for a scratchy and a firm rubble surface under the nice new layer.  The snow was not wet enough or deep enough to eliminate mogul fields.  Thus, bumps remain under the surface.  However, we did make some delicious turns over the groomed area in Wolverine and through the trees in North Peril.  There were good powder turns to be had on the side of Yellow Trail and through Scott Meadow.  It was scratchy skiing Power Line off the Sherwood Chair, but delightful going through the trees to the left of Robin Hood.

Basically, anything that was smooth underneath and north facing was pretty darn good this morning.  It was cold on the hill.  The day is turning out to be a real snow shower weather day with clearing and snow showers sharing the time.

Enjoy your day,

Andy

Meanwhile, I was on the late show today. I was lucky that my cable installation date coincided with a powder day. After arriving at noon, I spent the afternoon lapping Sherwood, where snow had filled in nicely in The Bakery, Don’s Run and Shuttle Cornice. It’s nice to know where to still find some shreds of powder left after a busy midweek powder morning!

BA says this may be it for a while…cold temperatures this weekend will be followed by about two weeks of June-uary.
