The weather bloggers have been calling for a return to winter for about a week now. The Forecast Discussion from the Reno office of NOAA has now come into agreement with the longer range models. It’s now a given that it will get a lot colder as we move through the upcoming week.
Here’s the forecast:
So temps will certainly be conducive to resorts that rely on snowmaking for early openings. That should allow Boreal to get back in business for next weekend, and allow Northstar to get things whiter for their November 16th opener the following weekend.
The bloggers and NOAA are in agreement that it’s too early to tell how much precipitation we get out of the next system. If the low ends up dropping south over land, we may only see six inches or so. If the low takes a track over the ocean, we could see a repeat of the mid-October storm totals. We’ll keep you posted when things look more certain.
