OMG…I Should Have Driven To Tahoe Last Night

image

Sadly, we made the plan to be gone for most of this week months ago. We knew there was a chance it might snow. Apparently Ullr appreciated my sacrifice…a lot! Valleygirl submitted her report and pictures to let us know just how great it was. Great job VG!

Dear UA,

OMG! Another sick sleeper powder day at Alpine Meadows! A 10 o’clock opening was totally worth the wait when you’re 4th chair, listening to reggae music, along with avy control and contemplating what will be first line of the day. I couldn’t help notice the hard core Squaw skiers were in the line up and chopping at the bit along with the Alpine crew. Nice!

It felt like the snow report was under reported as it was more than the 8′ up top! When the word trickled out that lifts would spin until 4 p.m. there was a feeling that KSL is doing something right in the effort to please us powder hounds! Thanks to all the staff for keeping the stoke going all day long, it really makes a difference on a powder day!

After a quick lunch we skied with friends, as there are none on a powder morning, but a powder afternoon is different.
The snow piled on us all day and laps under ABC were soft and fluffy. Deer Camp skied fantastic and Wolverine was waist deep when I left at 3:45. If you need that powder fix tomorrow get up early and get your stoke on! It’s gonna be fine! Who’s in?

Ski hard!

    Mark,

Is this land swap deal next to Nstar all part of that talk to hand control of water boards/assets to a smaller tuffer fiefdom under Nstar people, remove the influence of truckee dissenters, and run water/poop pipes to Sqam in the process? Shouldda Sierra environmentalists asked for a ‘thou shan’t pipe water to Squaw and up the hwy’ clause, or it’s all unrelated? Just asking.

Gotta watch these Wall Street types y’know. Look what they’re doing to poor old AM’s owners up there in Park City. 🙂

    Gordon Gecko.

And hey, I see Vito’s bantering figures with the kindergarten teacher lady at SOV. Whoa, she’s good. Why isn’t that ex Hewlett guy bantering with Vito: remember the HP guy was the big expert who ‘looked’ at IOV’s figures. Maybe he should’ve been looking at what the feds were about to publish. Shtty timing on his part.

    1. what’s the deal with pipes under roads and the martis-truckee deal to ‘share’ truckee water in our big debt-free plant ..with an 8 mile pipe’ How many pipes are there, and is it really only for backup supply??

I read Geary in the press say the pipe is backup for events like, he said, earthquakes (in Squaw) …but won’t a 8 mile pipe break in a quake in Squaw or anywhere between Squaw and the poo plant 8 miles away?

Also, what happens if a trench and zillion volt power lines, tv cable, water and poo is affected by a quake. Kapow I think. Should I buy an umbrella to save me from flying electrified terds?

  3. Sweet to see more awsome pics from your roving photo journalists.

Thanks KSL/SV and all the staff for making us happy (and Andy’s wallet fatter). A win/win wouldn’t you say??
