Our expectations were low this morning, as we were thinking the light would be flat and the slopes would be very firm. It turned out that we had a mixture of sun and clouds during the morning hours, with the sky not filling with clouds until late this afternoon.
Our expectations were exceeded due to the excellent grooming that was done overnight. Surface conditions on the groomed areas turned out to be softer than expected and darn pleasant in many areas.

Off-piste remained firm all morning.

Around noontime, the warmth and intermittent sunshine began to soften some slopes. We took a run down Bobby’s and found nice spring snow. The coverage is thin, and even with the grooming crews’ hard work, plenty of branches and bare areas exist on Ridge and Bobby’s.
I did enjoy Alpine and Wolverine Bowls this morning, as well as all the groomed lower mountain trails. We expected good-sized, firm cookies to cover the slopes that had been groomed. It turns out the cookies were small and not intrusive to our enjoyment.
We did experience a few flakes of snow falling from the gray sky, but they were few and far between during the morning hours. As of 4 pm this afternoon, the temperature at Ward Peak is showing as 30 degrees and falling slowly. Winds are blowing between 24 and 39 miles per hour. In the base area, the temperature is still above freezing. It appears to be 36 degrees at the lodge. Moisture is falling from the sky, but very lightly. Roadways are wet along the Truckee River.
Skiing was better than expected today and better than yesterday, but still far from exhilarating. Once again, I’m hoping for a significant accumulation of snow overnight.
Fanny Bridge is finally completed and open; thus, we do not have to deal with the detour.

I was asked to post these stupid photos of me trying to ski with my legs crossed, after which I fell into a position that was very difficult to untangle. We got plenty of laughs out of this lunacy.

Enjoy your day,
Andy
That is the Lindsey Vonn position, not recommended
