Yes, I am still in the land of windmills and stroopwaffels, but that has not stopped me from keeping an eye on the Sierra forecast. If things turn out right, there could be a healthy coat of early season snow in Tahoe by midweek. Below is the latest model run of the GFS for total snowfall through Thursday. Our standard disclaimers apply:
- A model run is not a forecast. It’s a reasonable guess at what could happen.
- This is just one of many different models.
- There are six model runs per day and they change over time.
This weather event is less than 5 days away so it’s within the realm of “it could happen”. I love seeing the first snowfall of the season. Hopefully more snow will follow shortly, supporting earlier openings at Mount Rose and Mammoth.

Tot snel!
overhyped first system is gonna fizzle out into nothing.
I’ll believe it, when I ski it.
I think you’re just jealous that you are not a ski bum yet 🤪
Hahaha 😘
