Another 4th Of July

Hello Friends,

It is hard for me to believe that another year has gone by, and we are about to enjoy another Fourth of July holiday weekend.  Time seems to be racing along a little to fast.  The weather in Tahoe has been warm the past few days.  We have had a little overcast which has actually kept the temperatures down a bit, but the humidity has been higher than normal making it feel warmer.  This morning, the 3rd, it is clear and still.

The return of outdoor clothing and equipment sales will occur again in Tahoe City on the 4th and 5th of July on Tahoe Street.  Turn left on Grove St. in the middle of town and look for the flyers.  It is easy to find.  As usual there will be lots of gear available at great prices.  Stock up for the coming winter.
There will be fireworks in Tahoe City and Donner Lake and a number of other venues for those of you who want to sit under the stars and watch the world light up.

If the wind remains still, as it is this morning, our lakes will be flat and perfect for paddle boarding, water skiing, and kayaking.  Take plenty of water on mountain bike rides and hikes.  This hot weather can cause dehydration to occur and you really do not want to ruin a perfectly good weekend recovering from lack of liquids in your body.
Music will be everywhere.  Squaw Valley plans to have bands playing each day, and music will be free on the beach in Tahoe City on Sunday afternoon.  Check around for additional music in the area near your home.
Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the Truckee River while rafting between Tahoe City and Alpine Meadows.
It is going to be crowded everywhere.  I recommend getting out early to avoid the crowds on the roads, bike trails, rivers and beaches.

Enjoy your day,

Andy Wertheim
