It was a short morning for me, but I did get out for a few runs between 10 and 11:30. Winds were whistling along at the top of Summit, but not as strongly as I expected. Light was rather flat as a layer of gray clouds blocked sun rays from creating shadows. The snow surface was still pretty firm when I started my late morning ride up Summit, but it was softening by 11. Groomed runs were very good as they softened, especially Alpine Bowl, Terry’s Return, and Yellow Trails. I am sure the off-piste was better later in the morning, or early in the afternoon, but I had to skedaddle.
Conditions remain about the same these days depending on the amount of sunshine we receive on any particular day. The snow pack and groomed trails should hold up for awhile longer. Mark is off on vacation for few days. I will soon be following him taking a week off (for more skiing of course).
There were plenty of people at the Winterwondergrass Festival in Olympic Valley over the weekend. The parking lot was filled to capacity. Music on the deck at Alpine will continue this weekend which is a real treat. I believe music is from 2 to 5pm.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
