The photos from today are from the archives as I did not shoot any today. Snow showers describe the weather we received today. The good news this morning was that it was not raining. We received a very small amount of snow overnight that created just a little more than a dusting on top of groomed runs or very firm off-piste trails. The gods were spitting light snow showers off and on all morning The sun to tried to pop through the cloud layer on occasion, but it was not successful more than a couple of times. This afternoon the roads are just a little wet, but not white at all.
The upper mountain was in a fog all morning limiting visibility which meant we stayed lower down riding Roundhouse most of the morning until making the decision to do a mountain tour. TLC over to Sherwood and then Lakeview and Scott before heading in to warm up at noon.
Although snow was spitting out of the sky, temperatures hovered close to freezing. This afternoon they appear to be dropping into the high twenties. The moderate temperatures with the sunshine peeking through on occasion softened the underlying surface just enough to create a thin corn snow condition. This made skiing the smooth groomed surface at Sherwood, Lakeview, and Scott very pleasant.
Skiing was much better than I expected this morning. We left the locker room hoping to last for five runs on Roundhouse (some of the group did head in after just a few runs), but we ended up staying until noon.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
Grooming appeared to be less than usual or perhaps none at all in certain places. Promised Land was skiable though!! >thumbs up<
I’m glad you managed to eke some fun out of the day. The conditions gave me time to consider alternative fun like working on taxes, brushing the dog, mopping the floor and building a website….tomorrow is another day.
It is actually snowing steadily now. 5:11 pm and sticking to the roads etc.. Powder day tomorrow?
Somewhere between 2 and 8 inches possible by midday Saturday…
