And then the snow stopped falling and the sky cleared. Yesterday afternoon it was once again gray above my head and snow was gently falling from the sky. I was outside digging out my propane tank when all of a sudden the sky cleared. The color gray was gone. It was almost instantaneously replaced with a beautiful blanket of blue and bright sunshine. I just stood taking in the view that has been obscured the past few days. The stunning picture in front of me reminded me of the reason I live in the Sierra.
Today the sun reappeared giving us the most beautiful day of the year. Day one of 2022 started cold and then turned reasonably warm. Snow conditions were perfect. Packed powder where skiers have made turns in the same places over time, fun carving snow where the grooming crew worked overnight, and fresh powder for those that hiked the High Traverse on there way to the Sherwood Lift (which opened this morning for the first time this season).
We found some fresh stash off the Sherwood Lift. It was pleasant being able to see where I was heading today which included Our Father, Expert Shortcut, D7, Waterfall, Tower 19 and a number of others.
It was day to sit on the deck for lunch and soak up some sunshine along with the views.
Enjoy your day,
Andy

What a day. We actually decided to forego Sherwood for the day and just enjoy an empty front side of the mountain. We skied onto every chair before 11am, the lines continued to be very short in the afternoon too. This is the Alpine Meadows we love.
Lakeview should be on the schedule for tomorrow, and I will bat clean up at Sherwood at that time.
