Each morning seems to increase in warmth. Today the morning temperatures were in the 40’s with sunshine falling from a clear blue sky. The normal suspects were smooth and creamy, with the lower mountain somewhat softer at the 9 o’clock bell than it was on Friday. I did not ski yesterday, but heard it was quite good.
Red Ridge, the portion of Red Trail that is between Dance Floor and Yellow Trail had a terrain park on it Friday, but the jumps were evidently removed Friday night or Saturday, which made me happy. The snow was particularly good in the early hour on this run.
We hiked up to the Upper Saddle and skied down Sun Bowl and Big Bend at some point after 10. In my opinion it was just lovely. It was soft and pretty smooth most of the way down. There were s few very small moguls in the beginning and then nice corn snow the rest of the way down. It was not sticky, just good corn snow. A little later we ran over to Lower Beaver. The snow as a little softer in the bowl. Up higher it looked better, but I enjoyed turns above Kangaroo and then went to heaven on the baby butt soft snow heading back to Summit Chair on Nick’s Run. The trail had been groomed over night and not skied by many when we hit it.
It was truly another wonderful morning. The Truckee River is looking inviting as water is let out of the lake and snow begins to fill the tributaries. Click the link below to see the river flowing this afternoon. I did spy a couple of kayaks heading down river.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
