Based on a few comments to yesterday’s report that I wrote after my morning tour of Alpine, I will back off a little and admit that I should have stuck it our until early afternoon. The warm sun did soften some surfaces and the upper mountain was obviously very good. I just did not want to stand in the Summit line as it filled the maze and stretched well beyond the gates. I was clad to hear from those that stayed and enjoyed skiing yesterday.
Today! The crowd was not a problem. Oh! ABC was turning for the first time. This is slow but takes some load off the Summit line (at least it gives some of us an alternative). Skies were blue much of the day.
Surface conditions were excellent, at least on Summit where I spent much of my time. D5, D7, D8 and Wolverine were wonderful today. Chalky conditions with smooth wind buff or small moguls that are always a delight. Tower 19, Sunspot, and even areas under the Sisters were ripe for good turns. A few groomed runs in the early morning offered perfect conditions for wide carving turns. Under ABC were more winter conditions with some smooth wind buff and plenty of small moguls. Terry’s Return added to our joy. It was a good day.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
