This morning I woke and peeked out the bedroom window to see snow hanging onto tree branches. A white coating covered the ground in the upper bowls at the Alpine Meadows Ski Area. A twinge of excitement shot through my body. Later in the morning when I stepped outside a blast of cold air hit my face. It felt like winter, especially when I realized I was making tracks in 6 inches of new snow and my low top shoes were letting snow creep inside quickly cooling down my feet. Sweeping snow off the car which had been sitting outside all night made me smile. It is still early and there is not enough snow on the ground to put skis on my feet, but today I realized I am ready.
A trip to the lodge where snow guns were blasting on Treeline Cirque and loaders were clearing snow from the parking lot got me even more excited. I know I will be dreaming of deep powder hitting me in the face tonight.
We have had a beautiful and longer then normal fall this season. Aspen, Cottonwood, and Maple Trees have held there brilliantly colored leaves into November which has been a real treat. Now it is time for the Pine and Fir Trees to shows how much snow they can hold on there branches.
Enjoy Your Day
