Hello Friends,
Beautiful warm weather is covering our area this week. We hacked around the Ponderosa Golf Course yesterday pretending we were having a good time. Actually we did have a good time catching up with friends that have been sheltered in place for a good long time.
We walked up to the Granite Chief Wilderness sign on the Five Lakes Trail a couple of days ago. The trail to the sign is dry and in good condition. Beyond the sign snow remains on the ground so we decided to just turn around at that point. However, most people seemed to be pressing on the last ½ mile to check out the lake. On the trip back down the hill we did meet a number of families heading up with children and dogs.
The trail was being well used which makes it somewhat difficult to retain social distancing. We noticed that most people were not wearing masks was some concern to us even though we were outside. Some wildflowers were blooming, but not a ton of them. I did hear a grouse calling along the way which is not unusual, but it is always nice to know that are still in the area.
This week we also took our mountain bikes out for a spin at the Tahoe City Nordic Center which turns into a bike trail center in the summer. The lower trails that we traversed were in excellent condition. My paddle board is calling to be taken out of the garage. With this great weather and somewhat low boat traffic on Tahoe it seems as if the time as come. A couple of photos taken along the Five Lakes Trail are attached.
Enjoy Your Day
Andy
