Trails are drying out allowing for limited mountain biking and hiking. Overcrowding any of the trails is not good for our health and safety which is why we prefer they are used by locals for awhile longer. Wearing a mask while hiking or biking, especially when passing other trail users is highly recommended. This will help to prevent the spread of disease as well make other trail users, not in your household, comfortable.
Mountain bikers are riding up a portion of the Western States Trail that is pretty dry until you reach snow or muddy meadow areas (stay out of the meadows until they dry out). I walked about 2.5 miles up the Tahoe Rim Trail from Tahoe City north yesterday and found the trail dry (at least to that point). It felt good to be walking uphill for a change and not just walking on level terrain.
A photo of Tahoe is attached taken from the trail. I turned around before hitting any snow. Golf courses are beginning to open. I noted golfers on the Tahoe City Golf Course yesterday and understand that Ponderosa Golf Course in Truckee is open as well. Outdoor recreation is allowed for those seeking exercise as long as we all practice social distancing.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
That is Heavenly in the background on the left. Nice hill, have not been there in years, the high altitude top is nice. That said, Alpine is the best hill in Tahoe. D
