A Real Winter Day

Boot top snow fell overnight. I think the ski area reported up to 8 inches overnight, and we received a little more during the day. Trees were holding snow on there branches and dirty snow was covered in a layer of white. Low angle and overnight groomed slopes were the best as one did not scrape on the ice below the new surface. Steeper trails, especially those with frozen moguls below, were not as delightful to navigate. Riding Scott Chair and watching people bouncing over good sized moguls on their way down the hill while loudly scraping ice below hurt to a certain extent. Winds were howling at the top of Summit in enough force to close the lift for the day, however Alpine Bowl Chair was open. Coverage under the chair and in other places on the upper mountain were softer underfoot. We did find places to make turns where others had not ventured. It sure was great seeing and skiing new snow for a change. We were not the only ones on the slope today. Parking at Squaw and Alpine was sold out. Lift lines however were tolerable during the time I was out on the slope.

Enjoy your day,

Andy
