That is it! I am over these mornings that are gray with low hanging clouds. Flat light begone. I am especially upset at the forecasters that keep telling me the sun will be shining all day only to find gray clouds overhead. This morning the streets were wet created by a small amount of clear droplets that fell overnight. The good news was that temperatures overnight were not at or far below freezing. Our snow surface was not frozen in the morning. Most areas were soft. Actually a small amount of wet snow fell overnight. I would not even call it a dusting, but there were small pillows of white in the troughs of some moguls.
A smooth delightful surface could be found in groomed areas. Yellow Trail, Ladies Slalom, Dance Floor etc. were soft and perfect for long carving turns. Sherwood was also just right for laying an edge to carve a wide turn and soft enough to get a workout under the chair. I got tired of waiting for the blue to show its face and headed in around noon. It was spring snow on the groomed runs and quite nice where the off piste had been well skied (not many places in the morning as the area was pretty empty), but when you hit patches of new snow here and there slowing down was not an option.
Of course, within minutes of shutting my locker and walking out the locker room door the clouds parted and blue began to take over. The afternoon, according to those that stayed, was warm and beautiful. It got mushy on the lower slopes, but the upper runs appear to have been quite nice.
I am hoping for a sunny couple of days before the sky turns gray again and perhaps drops a few inches of snow.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
Thank you for your sacrifice! As things were getting sticky when you left, we moved higher on the mountain. Today was a day where you could really be thankful that ABC was open midweek. Pygmy Forest and ABC Chairline saw enough sun today to make the crust soften and were delightful in the afternoon.
