Hello Skiers and Riders,
Is it late April or early May? It sure seemed that way today. Warm weather is turning the surface to spring snow. South Face at Sherwood is looking like it is on its last legs. Dirty snow and rocks hiding behind big moguls. The groomed remained lovely, smooth, and corn-like into the noon hour. I skied over the High Traverse close to 11 and was pleasantly surprised at the conditions. Just softening, but also getting thin in spots.
Outer Limits proved to be in fine spring form between 11 and 12. Winter snow conditions remained under the Alpine Bowl Chair, in the Deer Camp and High Yellow areas, and on the lower section of Palisades. We tiptoes over the Low Beaver where winter conditions remain with more spring-like snow above Kangaroo. Under Idiots was also pleasant as it had not been skied much and was reasonably smooth. The snow was sticky in places as it transitions from last weeks powder dusting to corn.
I spoke to a friend who skied Squaw today. He claimed the conditions have improved with the warmer temperatures indicating that the Nose of Headwall and Olympic Lady were in good condition.
It is overcast last this afternoon and warm. There is a big giant slalom race that has closed much of Wolverine Bowl and The Face scheduled for this weekend.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
