It was a perfect day at Alpine Meadows. Sun overhead, packed powder, windbuff, and even some 6″ to 8″ silky untracked snow. A truly wonderful day to be a skier or a boarder. We found soft silky snow in Gentian Gully and went back a few times to take full advantage of it.
Nice wind packed snow filled the open slope under Sherwood Cliffs and in High Yellow. Smooth powder turns put smiles on our faces in Lower Beaver and uncut snow in Subdivision Bowl (out of bounds) felt so good under foot.
It was supposed to be very cold today, but we found it to be rather mild (perhaps we were just overdressed). Weathermen are calling for snow tomorrow beginning at 7am and lasting until 10pm. Something between 1 and 2 feet may fall.
I need to apologize to Larry Heywood for spelling his name incorrectly the other day. It is Heywood not Haywood.
Tic Toc go the clocks at Alpine Meadows. Perhaps you have noticed clocks at the base of Summit Chair or on the side wall of the Adaptive Ski School building or in other spots at the resort. This morning we sat on Summit Chair just after it opened. The clock indicated it was 4pm. Were they planning on staying open later than normal. Was I in a time warp? It seemed as if it was 9am when we sat down. Riding Subway after skiing Gentian it appeared to be 1:30 (which meant I was late for a doctors appointment), but I think it was 11 something. Just saying.
We were just about to head in to the lodge after our great day of skiing when someone (me) suggested we ride the Big Carpet, just for fun.
Enjoy your day,
Andy
Bobble’s head is going to swell if we keep using him as the subject of our photos. What a great day. It was nice to get out and about with the mountain refreshed.
Some guys never grow up.
Looks like the new trail maps on the safetybar of each Roundhouse chair finally helped you guys find your calling-
