A few snow lovers did not show up today. I think I can count them on one hand. All parking spots appear to have been taken today. I was on the mountain early for a couple of hours. Lines were not long while we traveled around the mountain, but they may have increased as the morning turned to afternoon.
We did receive a dusting of new snow last night. It was just enough to fill in some of the depressions between moguls. Groomed trails with a little new snow on top were delightful for the early morning crew. Low clouds, wind, and flat light affected our full enjoyment of the upper mountain. I think it got better as the day moved along. A few patches of blue sky appeared in the early afternoon, but low clouds have moved back in late today.
We spent most of our day on the mountain on groomed runs. I did swerve off the groomed looking for patches of untouched snow or low angle slopes with small moguls. I did find some, but not as many as I would have hoped for.
We are hoping for a little more snow tonight with a break tomorrow morning and then showers in the afternoon and evening on Sunday.
Enjoy your day
Andy
I think it was more than a dusting. Dusting in the parking lot, an inch mid-mountain and 2-3 inches at Summit. As the lighting improved and crowds dwindled during lunch we had several great runs off of Summit while the line was super short and fast. Everything from Johns Peril to Alpine Bowl was skiing very nicely, with only an occasional bump to keep you awake and aware. I promise I had one scratch free run in South Peril.
And it took me a long time to identify the location of that photo…I can imagine new snow there ended up in Paige Meadows…
Thank you Rick 🙂
