Changing Conditions

Hello Skiers,

Winds were howling at the top of Summit Chair this morning and continue this afternoon. With a temperature of 37 degrees the winds were blowing 51 miles per hour at 2 pm with gusts to 60 mph. The good news for those of you who enjoy smooth groomed runs is that many more trails were groomed this morning. Alpine and Wolverine Bowls were screaming good. The normal three groomed runs off Roundhouse were all groomed for the first time this morning.

North and east facing slopes remain in good winter condition. Under the Alpine Bowl Chair I found small bumps that were nice and soft. Expert Shortcut remains in good winter condition. However some of the south and west facing slopes softened yesterday afternoon creating a more firm surface today. Bobby’s Run which has been groomed the past couple of days was noticeably more firm today. God’s Knob and Sunspot were firming up.
Yellow Chair opened today with Lakeview on tap for tomorrow, wind and weather permitting.

Some snow is on the way (Mark adds in: now saying 2-4 inches mid-mountain) which should freshen things up, but high winds are predicted to blow over the next couple of days making full resort operations questionable.

Enjoy your day,

Andy

  1. We skied with Spencer today and he had a variety of descriptions for conditions. For Standard Run: A large Godzilla poop that was detonated by a nuclear bomb, then coagulated back into a form of shattered glass…or not so good. Expert Shortcut: That fluffy topping like you find on top of a Dutch apple pie…or very good.
