In Short, Alpine Meadows Was Right On Today

Things were quite nice at Alpine Meadows this morning. There must not have been too many people out yesterday as there were plenty of nice lines for the taking this morning. While the majority of the traffic was staying on the perfect groomers, the off piste skiing was also quite fun. Sure, it was a bit scratchy underneath. But wide skis, speed and a good knowledge of the mountain can overcome most of that.

We found the most fun snow in low angle eastern facing slopes today. There was plenty of fun to be had on Lower Sympathy on the front side and protected areas off of Sherwood on the back side. I even managed a face shot, but had to work very hard at doing it. So maybe that picture yesterday was not so far fetched…

The Firing Line park was busy today, and lines appeared at times at Summit, Roundhouse, Sherwood and Scott. Plenty of people were around for the Rahlves Banzai. There were plenty of people that seemed really happy with a return to winter.

When we left around noon, we noted the main lots full, with overflow in use on Chalet Road, Deer Park and White Wolf. It’s a pretty good bet that this may have been Alpine’s busiest day this season. Played some hockey at Little Washoe Lake this afternoon…and I am already dreaming of some lines that may still be fresh tomorrow.
